Frisbee you say, is that a sport? Well, yes. Ultimate (as it's known), has been a competitive sport since 1975, and an official medal sport in the World Games since 2001. If you would like to learn more about how to play Ultimate, click here.
Depending on your level of play and your desire to be competitive, there are many options for the frisbee enthusiast.
Weekend pick up games in Manhattan are held at 2:30pm at the "Dust Bowl" in Central Park, located at 98th St and 5th Ave. For more info click here. There is also a summer league organized by this group that is co-ed and fun, although it's tough playing on dirt.
If you live around Prospect Park, there are pick up games in park every Wednesday morning from 7-8:30am in either the 9th St ball fields, or the Nethermead.
If you're closer to Williamsburg, there is a Monday evening pick up game (spring-late summer only), in McCarron Park fro 6pm until dark.
For a competitive spring and summer league, try the Westchester Ultimate Disc, Inc.. They have both co-ed and open leagues for Men and Women. Here is their schedule and info.
